TSC TE244 & TDP-247 Thermal Printer Calibration: Gap Sensor and Darkness Settings
Understanding the TSC Dual-Motor Architecture
TSC barcode printers (TE244, TE200, TDP-244, and TDP-247) are workhorses in Indian e-commerce warehouses. With dual-motor gear-driven mechanisms and 203 DPI printheads, they process hundreds of labels daily without overheating. However, switching between Flipkart and Meesho rolls often confuses the transmissive gap sensor.
Calibrating the Gap Sensor on TSC TE244
- Turn OFF the printer using the rear toggle switch.
- Ensure 4x6 gap paper is loaded under the media guides.
- Hold down the PAUSE button and turn the power switch ON.
- The printer will calibrate the sensor and feed 2 labels. When the LED turns green, the sensor is calibrated.
Configuring Seagull Scientific Drivers
We recommend installing the official Seagull Scientific driver for TSC rather than generic Windows drivers. In the driver properties, set Media Method to Direct Thermal, Sensor Type to Die-Cut with Gap (3 mm), and Darkness to 12. Combine this with PDF outputs from E-Label Cropper for 100% borderless dispatch printing.
Common Questions on This Guide
Q. Why does TSC TE244 stop in the middle of a label?
This occurs when the driver paper height does not match physical roll height. Verify driver page height is set to exactly 150 mm (6.0 inches).
Q. Can TSC TE244 print both direct thermal and thermal transfer?
Yes. TSC TE244 supports thermal transfer (with wax/resin ribbon) as well as direct thermal (ribbon-free) rolls.
